In a village, a farmer named Ram lived with his wife and four boys. Ram used to work hard in the fields to feed his family. But his four sons were lazy.
They used to roam here and there in the village. One day Ram told his wife right now I am strong and healthy so I can work and feed you what will happen when I became old. what will these boys do after that? They never worked. and They never even went to the field. how will they survive without working.
Ram's wife said that gradually they will also start working. Time passed and Ram's boys did not do any work. Once Ram fell very ill. He remained ill for many days.
He asked his wife to bring all the four boys. His wife called the four boys and brought them. Ram said that it seems that my illness can't be cured with medicine and I met a sage yesterday.
The sage asked me to go on a pilgrimage to cure my illness the sage also said that there is a treasure is buried under our fields. before I return from the pilgrimage I want you boys to take the treasure and distribute it among yourselves. Hearing this, the four boys became happy.
After some time Ram left for pilgrimage. A few days after he left his sons went to extract the treasure buried in the field. they dug the whole field from morning till evening. But they did not see any treasure.
The boys came home and told their mother that their father had lied to them and they did not find any treasure in that field. Their mother told maybe the treasure must be lying even deeper if you sow some beans and grow them their roots will reach deeper into the soil and grab hold of the treasure and when the bean plants are matured we can harvest them and get the treasure saying this the mother gave them a sac of beans and ask them to sow in the field, the boys listen to their mother and sowed the beans in the field.
They watered the field regularly and weeded the land, soon the beans were ready to harvest, and the boys went to their mother and told her the bean plants are ready to harvest.
The mother with her four sons harvested all the bean pods and asked the boys to dig every bean plant individually saying this she went into the market to sell the harvested beans. the boys dug every bean plant and when they found no treasure they went back home in disappointment.
On reaching their home their mother showed them a bag of 100 silver coins and said the treasure that your father mentioned is your hard work. all the four boys realized their mistake and started to work hard, soon their father returned from the pilgrimage and was happy to see his sons working hard in their field
