Welcome to Story Tellers

A free library of moral stories, Mahabharata tales, Panchatantra fables, and bedtime stories — crafted with love for children and families everywhere.

Our story

I'm the Kid from 1997 — a storyteller from Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, who grew up listening to the same moral tales, Krishna stories, and Panchatantra fables that have been passed down through generations of Indian families. Stories were the way my elders shared values — honesty, courage, kindness, and devotion — without ever making it feel like a lesson.

Story Tellers started in 2022 with a simple belief: every child deserves access to the rich tradition of Indian storytelling — in clear, simple English, for free. What began as a small corner of the internet has grown into a library of over 60 stories, quizzes, and guides, read by families across India and around the world.

Why we do this

Growing up, I noticed something: the stories that shaped us were disappearing from everyday life. Grandparents were the last keepers of these tales — the fox and the crow, the loyal Hanuman, the wise Tenali Raman. But fewer and fewer families had the time or the words to pass them on.

"Stories are how we pass our values from one generation to the next. If I can help one child fall in love with the Mahabharata, or one parent share a bedtime story that their child remembers for life — that is everything."

Kid from 1997, founder of Story Tellers

This blog is my small attempt to keep that tradition alive — in English, so it reaches every Indian child wherever they are in the world, and every curious reader who wants to discover the depth and beauty of Indian storytelling.
